COZUMEL, MEXICO – Sitting east seaboard area of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, is an isle in the Caribbean called Cozumel. This is a high traffic place travelled, that cruise ships visit. One of the major tourist enticements when visiting Mexico is the Mayan Ruins. The Tulum Mayan Ruins are established on the east edge of the Yucatan Peninsula. It’s advisable to have a tour guide to take you to visit the ruins during your visit.  You can book a shore excursion from the cruise line, which will give you the peace of mind, that if for some reason, the tour runs longer than expected, the cruise ship will wait for your return, provided you booked the excursion through them. Make sure you wear good footwear for lots of strolliing, because the ruins require a lot of walking.

ST. MAARTEN – St. Maarten is located in the Netherland Antilles. When visiting St. Maarten, Philipsburg is the place to go shopping. You will find a variety of merchandise for very low prices. A short walk from the ship, you’ll find a water taxi that will transport you over to Philipsburg. When you get off the ship and through the security gates, you will go slightly to the left to locate the area where the water taxi service is. In Philipsburg, you can enjoy the beach, a few drinks, and great shopping bargains.

ST. THOMAS – St. Thomas is an unincorporated territory of the United States, and is known as St. Thomas Virgin Islands. It’s an island in the Caribbean Sea, and has a view like no other. Most ships are docked, and there are two entrances to the town of Charlotte Amalie from the ports. One is better located and the ship drops you off right in the middle of the town where you can take the Sky Tram up to Paradise Point. This is a must, if you ever visit St. Thomas. A tour to Blackbeard’s Castle is a great experience as well. The other dock is located across from Charlotte Amalie and a taxi is needed to get to and from the ship. Check with your cruise line to find out which dock your ship will be at, so you can plan your visit better.

BELIZE CITY, BELIZE – Cruise ships anchor in Belize, and you have to be transported via a tender boat. Tender boats are just smaller vessels utilised to transport travellers to their destinations. The City of Belize,  is the biggest town in Belize. The major affinity of Belize is the Xunantunich Mayan Ruins. Xunantunich is a Maya archaeological located in western Belize. They are  approx. 80 miles west of Belize City. If you’re travelling to one of these ruins, be prepared to sit on a coach bus for roughly 2 hours each way to get there. The excursion is approximately 6 1/2 hours long, so it will occupy the majority of your day.

Belize has so much to relish, and diving is one of Belize’s large-scale tourist enticements, due to the beautiful reefs and cayes that are virtually unbroken. They continue for 150 miles along the seaboard area, and they make up the longest reef schemes in the whole western hemisphere, making it the second largest in the world.

GRAND TURK – Grand Turk is located in the Turks and Caicos Islands. The waters that surround Grand Turk Island is the most gorgeous blue waters that you’ll ever see. The island is small in comparison to other islands that tourists visit. It’s a very quaint island and has some of the most beautiful views in the Caribbean. If you ever get a chance to go to Grand Turk, a visit to the lighthouse is a must. The view of the shore line is like no other.

Wherever you decide to visit in the Caribbean, all the islands are absolutely beautiful. These were my favorites, and most seem to start seeming very similar, once you’ve visited so many. All of them are little paradises away from the regular hussle and bussle of normal day life, and it’s always nice to get away.
